Born on October 31, 1955, in Hangzhou (People’s Republic of China). Chinese name - Pang Xiaomei. In spring 1959, moved with her family to Leningrad (USSR) for permanent residence.
Education:
From 1973 to 1978, student of Leningrad State University, the Faculty of Oriental studies, the Department of Chinese Philology, was degreed MA in Chinese Philology and Literature with highest degree;
From 1986 to 1990, doctoral student at the Leningrad Branch of the Institute of Oriental Studies, with a research on the Manchu language of the 18th century;
In 2004, defended her PhD dissertation in Manchu history and historiography, entitled Manchu manuscripts and blockprints for the study of the Qing empire history and culture of the 18th century.

Major research interests:
Manchu historiography, literature and religion; Manchu written and printed book collections; History and culture of the Sibe; Hstory of Christian missionaries in China (Manchu documents on the history of the Russian Ecclesiastic and European missionaries); History of Manchu studies and sinology.
Published more than 130 papers, including 8 monographs.
