On November 11, 2013, at the meeting of the Academic Council of the IOM RAS, Dr. K.G. Maranjian read a lecture Is the Confucian Treatise by Nakae Toju a Reliable Historical Source? [Конфуцианский трактат Накаэ Тодзю — достоверный исторический источник?]. Dr. K.G. Maranjian compared the Confucian treatise The Dialogues with the Old Man by Nakae Toju (1608-1648) with the Buddhist treatise Bendōwa (A Talk on the Endeavor of the Path) by Dōgen (1200-1253), the founder of Sōtō Zen school. This comparison of the two root texts that offered principally new forms of philosophy showed that both Confucian and Buddhist texts were based on similar compositional principles that shaped their structure in a similar way. |
